Our pack places great value on every dollar earned or received and we want you to understand where your money will be spent. If this is your first year with us, the cost is $70 per boy for the year. Additional years are $60 for the year. We go camping many times in the year and the cost is usually around $20-25 per person with a maximum of $60-75 per family. The annual dues pays for the following expenses:
Initial Scout registration fee for BSA $15
Class B T- shirt $8
Camping cup $5
Annual dues, Boys Life, Insurance to BSA $27
Pine Wood Derby car $5
End of year handbook $9
Total $69
In addition to these costs, our pack usually spends $350 to register the leaders with Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and as much as $2,000 for all of the patches, belt loops, and awards that the boys earn. We regularly have to replace our camping gear or make repairs to our pack trailer. If your son is in webelos there are additional expenses that the pack incurs on behalf of your son. If you added all of these expenses together, you will find that the pack spends over $100 for every scout in the pack.
The pack pays for these expenses with the annual dues and the money earned during our two fund raisers per year, Christmas wreaths and camp cards. We believe that these fund raisers are quality products at a fair price. If your family is struggling to afford the cost of scouting, then please take the time to participate in our fund raisers. We write the boys commission checks when they sell and the money is supporting a very worthy cause.
Every effort has been made to make the cost of scouting affordable. If you can not afford these expenses and want to participate then talk to someone in leadership. Our Cub Scout Pack is not overly concerned about money but instead we are focused on teaching Christian character and engaging Dads with sons.
